Blewett Buns
Home of the rare specialty breed Mini Plush Lop
Blewett Buns has retained some of the original American plush lop descendants from Devie D’Anniballe, as well as pure import lines from Christine Toyer of Malvina Lake Rabbitry in Luxembourg EU. We feel extremely blessed to have retained these lines from Sweet Huckleberry Farm and Fuzzy Peach out of Canada.
Mini plush lops are a product of many years of breeding to create the perfect storybook bunny. Small size plush coat, floppy ears, laid back, friendly personality. A true MPL is a perfect combination of four different breeds, mini rex, Holland lop, Netherland Dwarf and Mini Lop.
Mini plush lop are on an average of 3 – 4.5 pounds. Unlike traditional rabbit hair, MPL feels soft and silky. Most of their coats are short, dense and plush. MPL are docile, sweet, curious social when the time is taken to properly bond. MPL truly enjoy your attention and affection. We strongly recommend that you spay or neuter your bunny. When bunnies get to be of breeding age they can become hormonal while this isn’t always the case. We strongly feel it make your pet bunny owning experience much more enjoyable. Bucks can be less hormonal.
Another wonderful quality that sets them apart from other rabbits is their lack of excessive shedding, making them an ideal house pet. MPL will molt 2 times a year. They will shed very minimal, if at all, the rest of the time. They also don’t produce dander, making them a great choice for those who may be allergic to other animals.
Here at Blewett Buns, we strongly believe in quality over quantity. Our focus is primarily on raising adorable, well socialized bunnies. While we are pet focused, we also are working towards the standard of profection SOP. They are some breeders collaborating together to develop an American SOP. As of now, they are not a recognized breed by ARBA. We will work with other breeders as we feel it’s important for us to work together to move this lovely breed forward. While our imports are a recognized breed in other countries, we follow the SOP with our European imports. Our goal is to be a good steward of the breed.
